ABOUT IT TAKES A VILLAGE

A surge in the number of young children suffering from higher levels of anxiety has prompted the creation of a community wide positive well-being initiative led by St. Patrick's National School in Greystones, Co. Wicklow.

‘It Takes A Village’ is a positive well-being initiative borne out of concerns expressed by teachers in primary schools located in the Greystones and Delgany areas of County Wicklow. The initiative seeks to build a community of services to assist children, families and teachers in need of help with issues around anxiety in young children in the eight primary schools in the catchment area.

The mission of “It Takes a Village” is to provide children, parents, guardians, and teachers with key skills for well-being and digital awareness. A key goal is to secure two community play therapists who will offer support to primary school children, their families, and educators across participating schools. Additionally, we offer practical support by organizing seminars and parent workshops in partnership with child well-being and digital awareness experts. We are also developing a digital passport pilot project for 6th-class students to promote internet safety.
